Happy belated Earth Day, dear protectors of our beautiful planet and all life on earth!
On Earth Day, April 22nd, two of our No New Gas Novato team delivered an appeal challenging the Planning Commission's approval of the Costco Mega Gas Station.
Now the City Council has to review it, take all into account, and hold a public hearing before voting on it.
It is the right time to demand that the City of Novato not certify the Final Environmental Impact Report (“Final EIR”) for the proposed Costco Fuel Center at 300 Vintage Way, and to decline to approve the Project at this time.
Reviewing both the Draft EIR and the Final EIR, including the responses to public comments, it is clear that many important questions raised by community members and organizations have not been genuinely answered.
The responses to substantive concerns are often dismissive or circular, and the Final EIR still lacks the evidence needed to support its repeated conclusions that the project’s environmental impacts would be less than significant.
Time to organize and let them know, loud and clear: "No to the Costco Mega Gas Station in Novato."
Brett Walker, the Novato City Planner, told us that it will tentatively be on the City Council agenda in June.
