Do you know that Novartis AG acquired AveXis, Inc. in May of 2018 so that their deal can also support their strategy not only for Spinal Muscular Atrophy treatments but also for other diseases like cancers, blindness, etc.? Here is what Novartis stated after the deal was done:

"We are delighted to add AveXis' leading gene therapy technology to our company and to welcome our AveXis colleagues to Novartis. Together, we now have the potential to bring to children the first one-time gene-based treatment for the devastating disease, spinal muscular atrophy. The deal also supports our strategy to deliver transformative innovation in areas of high unmet medical need, and advances our growing pipeline of gene therapies with the potential to transform the care of diseases, from SMA and cancer to blindness." 

So, in the near future, we can also expect that other transformative medications for treatments like cancers, blindness, etc. are going to be priced at an unreasonable level similar to what was done for the SMA treatment - Zolgensma.
