Bring back the financial cap for the SU Electoral Campaigns.
The Issue
The SU Officers play a vital role in encouraging and promoting positive, sustainable change at the university. Change that accounts for student views and individual needs.
Everyone, from the candidate to the campaign team, works hard throughout the year and for this, they should all be commended. To ensure a fair political and social system, I would like to propose the return of the financial cap. I believe this would permit a fair and level playing field for the candidates. University brings together an ecletic range of students from a range of diverse backgrounds. Your socio-economic status should not define/influence your ability in an electoral campaign.
This is a letter to the Student Union, proposing the return of the financial cap for the amount of money that each campaign team is permitted to spend during the elections. This will enhance the social justice of the campaign, and ensure that everyone has an equal opportunity to make a positive change.
