LET'S PACK CITY COUNCIL ON TUESDAY EVENING
Northfield City Council meets on Tuesday evening at 6:00pm. Unfortunately, City Council did not include a resolution calling for an immediate and permanent ceasefire on their agenda so we will be showing up to show that Northfield area residents care about this and think that it is within the jurisdiction of City Council to adopt such a resolution.
We have a core group of 10 speakers. We invite others to sign up to speak as time allows but we want to be respectful the City Council Member's time. Your presence is important. The easiest way to sign up to speak is at the meeting itself.
While the Council meeting begins at 6:00pm, we are asking those who are able to meet at the corner of 9th and Washington Streets at 5:30pm on Tuesday, so that we can enter Council Chambers as a group.
To show your solidarity:
- there will be some posters available to hold in your lap -- or bring your own
- bring a doll wrapped in white to signifiy a dead child. It is estimated that over 12,000 children have been killed and another 17,000 orphaned or separated from their parents.
As this CNN report -- 'The human cost': Remembering the children who died in Gaza -- details, War is not healthy for children and other living things
With gratitude,
Jenny Hartley
