Create a safe way to cross Pittwater rd between Harris Farm and Little lane Child Care

The issue

This section of Pittwater Rd is very dangerous for pedestrians to cross. There is a school on one corner (Stella Maris) and a childcare centre on the other side (Little Lane) as well as Harris Farm Market - an extremely popular grocery store. The area is high density residential and locals are having to take their chances with the heavy traffic. On a daily basis, children are seen running from one side of the road to the other. There is also an assisted living complex close to Stella Maris school, and bus stops on both sides of the road close to Harris Farm. The other crossings are approximately 350 metres apart. This is a popular place to cross given all of the above. On Friday last week an 11 year old boy was tragically knocked over on the road in front of the above childcare centre. We understand that he is in critical condition. This is heartbreaking and an absolute outrage for this community. It is not a matter of if, but when, the next child is injured on this stretch of road. Cars drive at high speed approaching the roundabout at the junction of Pittwater and Balgowlah Rd. Cars turn into and drive out of Harris Farm Market carpark constantly and sometimes in an unpredicable way (e.g entering in exits, exiting across 4 lanes of traffic at high speed).
