We don’t have long, so please ACT NOW! If you objected to Buccleuch building warehouses on Weekley Hall Wood and meadow before, PLEASE submit a NEW comment to the Planning Inspector by this coming Monday, 11th September. You can do so here: https://bit.ly/swhwappeal
This is your LAST CHANCE to make your voice heard before the Government Planning Inspectorate makes its decision on the ultimate fate of the site.
But wait, the Planning Inspector, you ask? Not North Northants Council (NNC)? That’s right! Buccleuch Property has grown impatient, and gone over the heads of the council and local people to try and force its destructive plans through! According to the Northants Telegraph, “The developers say the council has taken too long to make a decision.”
Through this very petition (almost 23,000 signatures) and huge scale of public opposition to Buccleuch’s plans, we previously succeeded in forcing the developer to redesign their proposal in the vain hope it would be approved, and saved 40,000 SQUARE METRES of trees in the process!
This shows how powerful we can be when we work together and link arms against the unnecessary, preventable destruction of nature.
But now, Buccleuch has pushed everyone with a contrary opinion aside, and gone directly to the Government – to people who are detached from the Kettering area, and do not understand or appreciate how valuable the meadow is to local residents and wildlife.
According to NNC correspondence, NNC would have REFUSED to grant planning permission ‘for a number of reasons’, so it is galling that Buccleuch have chosen to bypass the overwhelming negative sentiment towards their plans and chosen profit over people and nature.
If you were one of the hundreds of people who previously submitted an objection to Buccleuch’s plans, PLEASE do so again – we need your support desperately, because this really is it.
We’ve even created a guide on how to write your ‘Appeal Representation’, which you can find here: https://bit.ly/swhwappeal
The decision to build or not build is now not up to local councillors. Your comments will go directly to the Government Planning Inspectorate and influence whether or not we lose this irreplaceable site forever.
Please act now.
Thank you,
The SWHW team
