Dear Ms Deboer,
Recently my partner and I visited the offices at Woodlands Crematorium to discuss purchasing a headstone for our sons plot in the baby garden.
We were informed that we were only allowed the butterfly plaque and that we could not choose our own headstone from somewhere else as we would prefer.
After questioning the lady we spoke to as to why there is other headstones and plaques other that the one yourselves offer we where informed that unless it was the butterfly plaque of the older plain plaque then these headstones where there illegally and letters will be going out to families of those graves asking them to remove them due to new rules by yourselves.
We also enquired about decorations (I.E vases for flowers, small windmills, etc.) for the plot and were told these also are not allowed, After once again questioning why other plots had them we were informed once again that these were placed illegally and letters would be sent out to families asking to remove them.
We would just like further confirmation that this information we received was correct and to be given a list in full of what we are actually allowed to place on our son's grave and what will happen to us and the other families that will be affected if we do not comply to these new rules.
Are we correct in that this will affect all families or only those who have had a loss after the new rules have been in place. Also is there anywhere on the council website where we could find further information on what we are and aren't allowed in the garden.
Obviously this is a sensitive subject and your help in getting back to us as soon as possible would be most appreciated so that we can sort out our son's gave.
Yours,
Danielle Thompson
