The students of Ireland have been greatly impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic. We have missed out on vital class time due to lockdowns and sickness while also dealing with loss within the community.

As young adults, the struggle against mental issues due to these harsh changes is greatly increasing, which is more than ever affecting our learning abilities. 

I have heard students tell me that they hope for another lockdown just for a break from school and to guarantee predicted grades. It shouldn’t be like this. We all want to learn and succeed but in such cases like this it can be extremely difficult.

We kindly ask for the option of predicted grades this year, so we can focus on our tests one at a time, rather than scrambling to remember everything (including things we may have missed due to lockdowns). We hope that this choice will be given to us around April/ May to give students time to decide what subjects they would like to sit for the Leaving Cert.
