No War With Iran

No War With Iran
The Issue
Dear President Trump,
As an Iranian-American, I’m writing to urge you not to send American troops into another war, this time, on behalf of Israel and its increasingly reckless leadership. The cost in American lives, our nation's credibility, and global stability would be far too great.
At this critical moment, you have a chance to break with decades of failed foreign policy. For too long, American presidents have blindly supported Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, even as his actions have repeatedly undermined peace and fueled hatred across the region. His provocations, expansionist policies, and total disregard for Palestinian life have not only destabilized the Middle East ,they’ve also fueled anti-Semitism around the world. When people see a regime committing atrocities with impunity, it breeds resentment, not just toward that regime, but toward the people they claim to represent. This is dangerous and unfair, especially to Jewish communities worldwide.
Netanyahu does not speak for all Israelis, and his actions certainly do not reflect the values that Americans hold dear. Yet our unconditional support has enabled him for years. That can, and must change.
You could be the first American president to say: No more. No more blank checks. No more American lives risked for someone else’s ambitions. This would not only be a historic break from a destructive norm, but also a moment of real leadership on the world stage.
Iran, contrary to what many believe, has long had deep affection for American culture. Despite decades of tension between our governments, the Iranian people, especially the youth, are vibrant, open-minded, and deeply connected to American music, cinema, culture, and values. They are full of dreams and aspirations that align far more with friendship and peace than with hostility.
It’s also worth remembering that Iran is home to the second-largest Jewish population in the Middle East after Israel. Jews have lived alongside Muslims, Christians, and others in Iran for centuries as neighbors, friends, and family. The idea that we are destined to be enemies is a myth perpetuated by those who benefit from division, not by ordinary people.
We are at a crossroads. You can either look the other way like so many before you, or you can rise above politics and make a moral stand. You can be the one who stops the cycle of war, who puts American lives before foreign agendas, and who dares to challenge a dangerous status quo.
History will remember what choice you make. Please choose peace!
Respectfully,
A concerned Iranian-American citizen
