The Ontario Federation of Agriculture says the province is facing an increase in the rate of farmland loss as urban sprawl swallows up land previously used for growing.

The farmer-led organization called on municipal governments and the province  to better protect farmland and food production when planning new housing developments.

Data from the 2021 Census of Agriculture shows Ontario is losing 319 acres of farmland daily, equal to the loss of one average family farm.

As more and more agricultural land is being taken we are putting our ability to produce food regionally and nationally at risk. We are becoming reliant on imports for food and we must say no to protect our children, families and future generations ability to feed themselves and their families. Once the land and ability to produce on our own is gone, it is gone for good.

Please sign, let's stand together against this attack on farmland and say "NO". Our farmland is off limits. We prefer homegrown food over corporate greed.
