Red tagging endangers innocent lives, threatening people who are not even part of the situations they are accused of. Journalists, specifically, face violence and undue criticism. According to the Reporters Without Borders 2020 World Press Freedom Index, the Philippines ranks 136th out of 180 countries, indicating a hostile environment for press freedom and safety of journalists.
