7,979 people have signed. We are just 21 signatures away from 8,000. Thank you.

The South African Rabbit Meat Regulations remain an important concern. The consultation has closed, but we have not found evidence that final regulations have been gazetted. Until the position is settled, we will keep speaking up.

Someone recently asked us: “Why rabbits? Why not all animals?”

It is a fair question.

We believe all animals deserve protection. Hop to Save Rabbits focuses on rabbits and hares because they are repeatedly overlooked—treated differently depending on whether they are labelled pets, farmed animals, wildlife, research animals or pests.

Specialising does not mean other animals matter less. It means making sure rabbits and hares are not forgotten.

Our work now goes well beyond this petition. HTSR has made 22 formal submissions and representations across 10 countries and the EU, alongside submitting parliamentary evidence, reviewing individual welfare concerns and supporting rabbit rescues.

You can see what we are working on at www.hoptosaverabbits.org

For today, our ask is simple:

Can you help us find 21 more people who believe rabbits deserve protection and take this petition past 8,000?

Please share the petition with someone who may sign — and remind them to confirm their signature by email. 🐇
