No Taxpayer-Funding or Official Support for Harry & Meghan’s Private Visit to Australia!

No Taxpayer-Funding or Official Support for Harry & Meghan’s Private Visit to Australia!
The issue
UPDATE: This petition has been publicly criticised in a way that many Australians may view as dismissive of genuine public concern.
A Daily Mail article (March 26) stated:
“Of course, if you wanted to dive into the ridiculousness of this petition as an agenda for spreading misinformation, then one could equally hypothesise that there are approximately 26.5 million Australians who haven't signed it, who must therefore agree with the taxpayer picking up the tab.”

Prince Harry and Meghan are visiting Australia in April 2026. As this is a private visit, Australian taxpayers must not fund security, logistics or government coordination.
Since stepping down from royal duties in 2020, they no longer represent the Crown and now operate private commercial ventures based in the United States.
The visit includes media, business and private engagements. Meghan Markle is publicly advertised to attend a ticketed event in Sydney titled “Her Best Life”, held April 17–19 at the InterContinental Sydney Coogee Beach, with tickets listed from approximately AUD $2,699 to $3,199 per person.
Prince Harry is also advertised as a speaker at the InterEdge Psychosocial Safety Summit in Melbourne, held April 15–16 at Centrepiece at Melbourne Park, with tickets listed from approximately AUD $1,978.
Reports suggest he may also meet with representatives of the Australian Defence Force and explore a potential bid to host the Invictus Games in Australia in 2031.
These activities are private and commercial and must be treated strictly as a private visit.
At a time when Australians are facing significant cost-of-living pressures, including rising grocery bills, fuel prices, mortgage stress driven by interest rate hikes, and increasing energy costs, public resources must be used responsibly and applied fairly, without special treatment for high-profile individuals.
THE REASONS
- They stepped down from royal duties and no longer hold official roles
- The visit involves private and commercial activities
- Security and coordination would place a cost on Australian taxpayers
- Official support should be reserved for formal state or royal duties
- Public funds should not be used for private visits
The Australian Government must clearly confirm that no taxpayer-funded support or official resources will be allocated to this visit!
