Ghislaine Maxwell was convicted of child sex trafficking and sentenced to 20 years in prison. But if recent whistleblower claims are true, she’s not serving that sentence like everyone else.

Two former employees at Federal Prison Camp Bryan in Texas say Maxwell has received highly unusual perks and access not afforded to other inmates—including direct communication with the prison warden, meals sent to her dorm room, late-night privileges, and special treatment for her visitors. Other inmates who’ve spoken out say they’ve faced retaliation—or worse, transfers out of the facility.

Now, the whistleblowers who tried to expose this are being silenced too. Noella Turnage, a nurse at the facility, says she was fired just days after contacting House Judiciary Committee staff. Her only motive? Doing what’s right. “This was about human decency,” she said. “Somebody had to say something.”

We agree.

The Bureau of Prisons must not allow its facilities to become playgrounds for the wealthy and well-connected. Maxwell should not be allowed to use her notoriety to gain privileges, especially while survivors of the abuse ring she helped run continue to fight for justice.

We, the undersigned, demand that the Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Prisons:

• Immediately investigate Maxwell’s treatment at FPC Bryan
• Publicly release findings about whether prison policy was violated
• Guarantee equal treatment of all inmates at the facility going forward
• Reinstate whistleblowers who were retaliated against for reporting misconduct.

Justice doesn’t end with a conviction. It continues with enforcement. And the American public deserves to know that no one—no matter how infamous—is above the rules.
