TUES (10/23 @ 7 PM) Room 150/152 Woodlands Townhall – Township Board of Directors host a public meeting with concerned residents regarding underpass.
Even if you attended last week’s meeting….
MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO ATTEND THIS MEETING! The Township Board of Directors is willing to listen. WE have to be willing to show up and speak! TUESDAY’s and WEDNESDAY’s meetings are truly the last opportunities to speak to your leadership before The Township votes on the resolution. They tabled the vote last week so they could hear from impacted residents and gather more reliable data. Come hear what they have to share.
WRUD Meeting Update from today (MON, 10/22):
Four residents spoke in opposition to the underpass at Research Forest and Grogan’s Mill. Discussion included examination of I-45 ingress/egress points. Commissioner Riley has indicated a willingness to maintain a two-lane Grogan's Mill north of Research Forest; add right-hand turn lanes on Grogan's Mill; and prioritize improvements at I-45 and Research.
Chairman Gordy Bunch also spoke and presented drawings of the initially-proposed, at-grade plans (no overpass, no underpass—improvements at street level only). These are not the plans currently under consideration, and some members of the WRUD had not seen these documents, including the BGE study. Kudos to Chairman Bunch for bringing this to the WRUD.
The WRUD recognized the following:
1. Projected traffic volume in future years does not appear credible.
2. Conflicting information exists. Not all governmental stakeholders had the same information.
3. Conflicting timelines have been presented to public (ranging from 3 to 20 years, if at all)
4. Conflicting cost for the project
5. The public doesn’t know what to believe based upon changes in data and conflicting information
Chairman Bunch recommended a reanalysis of traffic data. Director Rieser and other WRUD members concurred. The WRUD Board approved a motion to direct the engineer and the representatives to reassess the improvements at both Lake Woodlands and Research Forest intersections with Grogan’s Mill.
Things to do:
1. Attend both Tuesday and Wednesday meetings. Invite your neighbors!
2. Ask every person in your household, who opposes the underpass, if they have signed the petition. You simply need to use a different electronic device per person.
3. Continue to e-mail or Facebook your elected representatives.
