Petition updateNo more kids with cancer: clean up the Santa Susana Field Lab$87 million dollar bridge leads mountain lions to toxic land

Everyone in Los Angeles loves our mountain lions. “P-22” is a male mountain lion who has gained celebrity status here. He has his own fan club, hashtags, even a jewelry line. But the continuation of his species is threatened by major freeways that limit the mountain lion's breeding grounds.

The Wallis Annenberg Wildlife Crossing will allow Los Angeles’s mountain lions and other species to safely cross over the 101 freeway, reconnecting the land and protecting our wildlife. It’s a critically important project!

But the $87 million bridge will also give mountain lions greater access to the Santa Susana Field Lab, one of California’s most toxic sites.

That’s why we’re thankful for Ventura County Supervisor Linda Parks, who has been an advocate for the wildlife crossing and a powerful supporter of the Santa Susana Field Lab cleanup. During the groundbreaking ceremony she took the time to remind us that access isn’t enough. Our mountain lions need to be toxic-free in order to truly thrive. Ditto for all our wildlife.

Please sign this petition to tell the State of California to enforce the cleanup agreements to completely remediate the Santa Susana Field Lab. Then mountain lions can pass through unharmed.

If you’ve signed this petition already, please forward this to a friend who hasn’t. Because California's wildlife should be toxic-free.

Warmly,
Melissa Bumstead
