No chemical No cruise ship but conscientious tourism & agriculture for the nature island

The Issue

Call to ban chemicals & cruise-ships‼️‼️‼️

WHY?

Because chemicals are banned already in US, in Switzerland and in Europe but keep on being exported into the Caribbean while we face irreversible consequences on environment and people’ health, in France as in the FWI already and not only; because we know cruise-ships to be perfect incubator and vessel spreading germs, bacterias and virus; both chemicals & cruise-ships are harmful to people & environment and we cannot say to our children that we didn’t know!

Because chemicals & cruise-ships are at highest risk, both due to inevitable consequences; cruise-ships with variable length of stay (fixed staff, travelers temporary) carrying passengers coming from all over the world, often in less time than it takes to incubate certain common contagious diseases such as influenza, sars and covid. Chemicals and cruises-ships both cause hundreds years of poisoned soils, rivers, seas and oceans, where we feed ourselves from.

Because chemicals and cruises-ships bring no income to inhabitants but instead an enormous concentration of substances which poison soils, food and inhabitants, and an enormous concentration of people who come for couples of hours only and who simply don’t care about the consequences, soon they’ll be far away from Dominica and might never come back.

Because Cruises-ships offer too easy access to distant and isolate places which are to be protected instead. Because chemicals will surely not feed you but certainly will kill you!

Because the nature island deserves a conscientious tourism & agriculture program empowering inhabitants first, emphasizes sustainable development & improvement, and environment friendly activities only.

Because it is a priority to stop the destruction of the island before the irreversible effects and banning chemicals & cruise-ships are only the first steps to achieve resilience, indeed.

Before an Int’l airport, before cruises-ships, before tourists and before all interest shared overseas, it is about the island and its inhabitants, first.

By January 2019, Dominica planned to fully ban all common plastic and styrofoam single-use food containers. ... “Dominicaprides itself as the 'Nature Isle,'” the prime minister, Roosevelt Skerrit, said. “We must in every way deserve and reflect that designation.”

Minister for Agriculture Reginald Austrie said by August 2019 cabinet has now taken the decision to ban the importation of the poisonous chemical "roundup” into Dominica.

Financial Times reports in 2017, the Carnival's cruises-ships pollution problem, to name just one, is so bad that across its fleet alone, the large boats pollute 10 times more than all 260 million of Europe's cars. Carnival–and its brands are the proud owners of seven of the 20 most polluting cruise-ship lines.
