No More Bombed Churches: Demand Action for Syria’s Christians

No More Bombed Churches: Demand Action for Syria’s Christians

Recent signers:
Anna Ovsienko and 19 others have signed recently.

The Issue

Since 2011, Syria’s Christian population has plummeted by over 60%, and more than 700 churches and monasteries have been damaged or destroyed in total.

In June 2025, ISIS murdered 22 worshippers at St. Elias Orthodox Church.

Without protection, one of the world’s oldest Christian communities could vanish forever.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

We
demand that the President of the United States, the U.S. Congress, and international human rights organizations take immediate action to:

1. Publicly condemn this terrorist attack and affirm the United States’ commitment to protecting religious minorities worldwide.

2. Pressure the Syrian government to provide real, enforceable security measures protecting Christian and other minority communities, especially at places of worship.

3. Support international monitoring by UN bodies and reputable NGOs to document minority rights abuses in Syria and ensure accountability.

4. Demand that those responsible for this crime be pursued and prosecuted, and that the safety of religious minorities is guaranteed going forward.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

If the world stays silent, more churches will burn and more families will be torn apart.
