Update:  

It may not require a constitutional amendment or getting the Supreme Court  to reverse its decision re Citizens United which allowed corporations to expand their influence in our politics.       Most corporations are set up In Delaware in our country so they have to follow that states business code and whatever state they do business in as well if 25% of its income is from doing business in that state.   Corporations are given their “identity” by the state in which they do business.     Thismis also consistent e with the SCOTUS decision re Hobby Lobby that indicated thst compliance must follow state law so this makes it difficult for SCOTUS to try and reverse any states business code amendments .    If the ballot initiative in Montana passes it will mean no corporations can donate to political campaigns in that state including federal elections.    What this means is state like California who has been trying to get this done via state legislator ballot initiative can update the business code which will mean corporations cannot influence political campaigns.   Other states can also follow suit which will repair the damage caused by the horrible Supreme Court decision.    Everyone should contact their state legislators and advise them to follow Montanas lead should the ballot initiative pass this year.     This is good news.
