Mississauga East Cooksville is being considered a location for a drug injection site. A taxpayer funded drug injection site in our community will severely harm our community’s safety and reputation. 

It is well demonstrated that drug injection sites bring crime to the neighborhoods that host them. For instance, in downtown Eastside in Vancouver, the local community devolved into open air drug markets with hundreds of addicts sleeping on the streets. Moreover drug injection sites do not encourage treatment and recovery. Drug injection sites encourage complacency in an activity which is not only potentially fatal but also illegal. Finally, drug injection sites use up valuable taxpayer resources that could be better spent on addiction recovery.

We the undersigned strongly oppose a drug injection site in our community.
