Are you a fan of getting your every day drives tracked and stored? 

Whether it be a quick trip to the grocery store, the doctor’s office, class, etc. Flock & other ALPRs (Automatic License Plate Readers) have been popping up all over New York, tracking YOU.

ALPRs have been around for decades, they are computer-controlled cameras that turn your license plate into stored data points. Showing exactly when and where you are at any given moment.

The integration of A.I. and other technological advances have led to the widespread advancement and implementation of these cameras.  

Rochester & Monroe County has become a candidate for ALPR expansion.. now it seems every where you turn a camera is watching you. 

The data is claimed to be deleted after a certain amount of time, but are you comfortable with your everyday drives turning into trackable tabs? Not to mention in a world where digital security is a constant uphill battle, it could fall into the wrong hands.

On multiple instances these cameras have ALREADY been shown to be misused. Without strict regulations, these cameras can easily be abused for an individual’s personal gain.  

The Institute of Justice has already claimed 244 instances of misuse of these cameras  currently. That is 244 too many. 

The dangers these cameras bring far outweigh the benefits. We must be aware of the risk vs. reward when it comes to an issue of freedom vs. security.
