NO Fences Around OUR Shared Parks - Protect Fontainebleau's Green Spaces!

The Issue

*3rd Update - 11/27/2025

Please click HERE to view the board report and the map showing the newly proposed gate and fence locations. The red lines highlight where the fences will go, and the red dots show the gate locations.

All gates will remain fully accessible, and the pedestrian walkway under the street will stay completely open with no fences or gates, ensuring everyone can continue to move freely through our community.

Let’s all remain vigilant and engaged as these projects unfold. A huge thank-you to Keep Bleau Green for their passion, persistence, and unwavering commitment to protecting our neighborhood.

Let’s keep walking, running, playing, biking, and enjoying OUR beautiful green spaces; they are truly what make our community special!

Happy Thanksgiving!

1st Update:

  1. Their claim - crime concerns: No crimes in the vicinity have been reported in the last 30 days. Crime Report Map
  2. Their proposed fences include one controlled access point per surrounding community. Each access point will be managed and controlled, and will not constitute open public access. Fence Proposal Specs Attached
  3. Fact: Fencing off our green spaces and restricting access will lower property values for the 60,000 residents who make up the majority of our community, while benefiting only about 1,000 homeowners.

Over 40 years ago, my family moved into a home that overlooked what was then a flourishing golf course. Those sprawling green spaces have been an integral part of our lives, acting as a communal haven long before Las Ramblas came into existence. We've enjoyed recreational activities, peaceful relaxation, and shared countless memories in these open lands that serve as the heart of our community.

Today, we face a growing concern: the plans by Las Ramblas to install a fence that would restrict public access to these vital green spaces. Such an action directly violates the covenant agreed upon by their developer, which clearly outlines the usage and accessibility of the property. These green areas are not just patches of grass—they are essential to our community's recreation, relaxation, and overall well-being.

The covenant was put in place to protect both current and future uses of this land for public enjoyment. It is imperative that both Las Ramblas and the relevant authorities respect this agreement. By proceeding with the fencing, they are attempting to sequester lands that were never designed to be isolated, thus depriving the community of its rightful access.

Public green spaces are communal assets meant for everyone’s enjoyment—not just a select few. Their significance extends far beyond aesthetics; they foster social connections, promote psychological and physical well-being, and afford natural beauty that benefits everyone. Fencing them off contradicts the very spirit of community living and undermines agreements made to ensure their availability for all.

Residents of our community, supporters from near and far, and anyone who believes in the importance of accessible green spaces must come together to speak up. We urge Las Ramblas and those in power to honor the covenant and keep these spaces open to the public.

This is a critical moment to stand up for our rights and ensure that our open spaces remain just that—OPEN. Please join us in defending our community's assets before access is lost. Sign the petition and help us protect a cherished piece of our community's heritage.

Our voices matter - we are 60,000 residents strong!

Thank you!
