Recently, Cook County Commissioners Heidi Doo-Kirk and Frank Moe publicly expressed support for a Dollar General in Cook County, Minnesota. This means that two of the five commissioners in Cook County support the addition of formulaic, "big-box" businesses within the County. Just west of the city limits where Grand Marais ends, Cook County would have the ability to allow a formula business to be built. This would have the same impact to Grand Marais as it would if it were built 200 yards east. No difference whatsoever. As opposers of a formulaic business in Grand Marais proper, I am asking you to support opposition of a formulaic business in Cook County, as well.
