Chinatown is a significant place for Chinese-Australians, Asian-Australians and Sydneysiders from all walks of life. The City of Sydney's commercial partnership with QMS and JCDecaux has seen huge digital advertising signs installed in the heart of Chinatown. New payphones with digital signage are also planned on the way.

Chinatown is a historic area, and a classified "Special Character Precinct" by the City of Sydney itself. It should not be littered with these advertising signs for the sole purpose of generating revenue for the council.

The advertising signs are enormous, intrusive, obstruct pedestrians, ugly and provide zero community benefit.

Some of them are blocking the space where restaurants could have outdoor dining.

The City of Sydney has already commissioned a review into the placement of these signs - we need your help to convince them to remove them from our Chinatown. It's our one and only chance to get this done.

Soul of Chinatown is calling for the removal of all QMS and JCDecaux digital signage from the entire Chinatown area, not just on Dixon Street.
