No Data Centers in Boulder City

No Data Centers in Boulder City
The Issue
We residents urge City Council and the Planning Commission to reject the introduction of data centers in an area where voters have no say via ballot question, and to pursue more responsible, sustainable alternatives.
The proposed project states it will require 300 megawatts of continuous power. To put that in perspective:
That is more than three times larger than the average Meta (Facebook) data center.
It would use roughly 22 times the total residential electricity consumption of Boulder City.
It is equivalent to powering approximately 250,000 homes the size of mine.
A facility of this size would generate heat equivalent to roughly 200,000 space heaters running nonstop, 24 hours a day.
The proposal includes using up to 650,000 gallons of treated effluent per day. Boulder City currently produces about 1.2 to 1.5 million gallons per day, meaning this project could consume roughly half of the city’s total daily effluent output. Using it for industrial purposes means it will not be reused or returned to Lake Mead. It will also disrupt or eliminate the existing riparian environment.
Decisions of this magnitude must not move forward without the clear support and consent of the people who live here.
