NO Data Center in Upper Sandusky

NO Data Center in Upper Sandusky
The Issue
The local leaders in the City of Upper Sandusky, Ohio have decided to seriously pursue a massive data center just north of the city. Utilizing 150 ACRES, this facility would not only require its own power plant to generate 150 Megawatts, it would also consume 100,000 gallons of local water a month.
The issue here is that this venture by local leaders has not been discussed with the public in any serious manner. We know that if this was discussed 9 months prior, the community would have made clear that a 900 million dollar data center in town is not acceptable.
Why Data Centers Bad For Our Community
Data Centers can be complex and their purposes even more. What isn't complex is the opposition to them. 7 out of 10 Americans oppose their construction.

There's a big reason why Data Centers are opposed by communities everywhere.
- Massive Use of Local Resources
- Water consumption, Energy use, Farmland/Wildlife loss & Pollution
- Property Values Negatively Effected
- These data centers are noisy. Equivalent to adding a second highway on top of the one we have now except the traffic never slows down.
We know some say an A.I. bubble is growing and while there is disagreement about whether that bubble exists or not, what happens if this massive center needs to be decommissioned? Will its promises of giving to the community end? What if property tax is eliminated in the state of Ohio? Will the data center take off with millions it promised?
There are so many questions on top of the biggest concerns this community has. In our view, this project isn't worth the negative affects this community will get the full brunt of should this project go forward.
