Nevada is planning to block people on SNAP from buying sugary drinks and candy. This change would take away choice from low-income families who rely on food assistance.

Most SNAP recipients are working parents, seniors, or people with disabilities. They deserve respect—not more rules about what they’re allowed to eat.

SNAP already has limits. Adding more does not solve food insecurity. It just adds shame and stress.

Healthy eating should be encouraged through better access and education, not control and restriction.

We urge Nevada’s Division of Social Services and the USDA to stop this waiver. Low-income families should have the same freedom to shop as everyone else.
