Petition Against Building Community/Civic Center in City of Fair Oaks Ranch

We, the undersigned residents of Fair Oaks Ranch, Texas, hereby present this petition to address the matter of building/construction a 5300 sqft Community/Civic Center for the citizens of Fair Oaks Ranch.

Issue:  The current proposed construction of the Community/Civic Center has not been exposed to the citizens/residents properly.  Many concerns and issues such as cost, parking, size of structure, traffic, noise, etc. have been raised and ignored by the City Government and Staff.

We believe taking immediate action on this issue is crucial to avoid an irreversible detriment to our community. The signatures below have joined together in support of this cause, seeking for the City of Fair Oaks government and staff to cease and stop efforts and expenses to build/construct a Community/Civic Center on the City Campus.

Our Concerns:

• Cost of design, planning, survey, construction, finish out, furnishings total over $2.3 million
• Over 5,000 SQFT building with little to NO parking (up to 200 people occupancy)
• Traffic flow in and out of an already busy intersection: Chartwell Lane and Dietz Elkhorn
• Increased Noise Levels when 200 in attendance: music, loudspeakers, crowd chatter, etc.
• Security Issues for over 200 people until late night
• Cost of Maintenance, Staff, Utilities, Sewage, etc. (Lifetime of over a 5,000 sqft building)
• Government pushing this project in order to use MDD funds consisting of over $3 million

We are determined to deter this project and strongly believe that your involvement can make a significant difference.  This petition is a result of door-to-door and electronic signature collection, ensuring that a diverse range of community voice is represented. The City of Fair Oaks Ranch government and staff DID NOT thoroughly assess the NEEDS and WANTS of the residents and citizens of Fair Oaks Ranch.
