NJ College Students for Women's Health

NJ College Students for Women's Health
The Issue
Governor Christie proposed the complete elimination of funding for family planning services in New Jersey. This funding allows us, the students of New Jersey, to access at little to no cost:
-STI/STD testing and treatment,
-low-cost birth control and other contraception,
-emergency contraception,
-routine gynecological exams,
-breast and cervical exams;
-HIV testing;
-and pregnancy testing.
Without this funding, the health centers that we rely on may no longer be able to serve us. These are the health centers on our campuses and in our communities. We can't afford to lose access:
-HALF of us will contract an STD/STI by the time we're 25.
-Nearly 40,000 unplanned pregnancies and 20,000 abortions were prevented last year with the aid of family planning services.
-Cutting $7.5 million in family planning services will cost our state $30 million in Medicaid-related costs, adding to the debt that WE will inherit.
Family planning health centers are the places we trust to get confidential, quality, affordable reproductive health care services. The complete elimination of family planning funding could be devastating for students in NJ.
Protecting this funding will allow us to continue to pursue higher education. Stand up. Take action. Tell your state representatives to RESTORE FAMILY PLANNING FUNDING!
PLEASE ADD THE NAME OF YOUR SCHOOL TO THE TOP OF THE LETTER BEFORE SENDING.
