Dear Friends - Ever since the start of perhaps this first alert on 02-02-2022, this petition became the largest supported call with signatures of 55923 concerned citizens, 9335 re-shares and 83991 views so far.

Although, initially I started this petition seeking extension for senior citizens only, feeling the pain of many youngsters whose old but yet even excellently maintained vehicles started getting impounded without any notices at all, it was thrown open for all others being affected by this hastily pursued drive.

Your huge support helped me raise the issue further with #thequint as well as with the #MirrorNow - a business channel of the #TimesNow, who also carried my live interviews on a couple of occasions and created progressive awareness among many other media channels and houses too. The support from the team of #change.org too has been exceptionally strong in promoting this sensitive issue very effectively.

The battle is still on. After the earlier Delhi Government sensed the increasing outrage of the public, it halted its drive for forceful impounding of the vehicles through a written directive. This was a partial relief for all those not affected yet.

Though lately again it is not the forceful impounding of old vehicles but a very innovative idea of denying fuel to the EOL vehicles from July 01, 2025, once again without adequate preparation that has had to be paused within 3 days of enforcement.

It is heartening to note that the new Delhi CM, Smt Rekha Gupta has stated that her government will make all efforts for the resolution of the problems related to the ban of on ELVs and that the Delhi Environment Minister Sardar Manjinder Singh Sirsa has also taken up the long pending matter in all earnestness.

Lets hope post this second breather this time around a really well laid out policy framework emerges very soon and all issues related to the ban like scaling up the scrap value, time limit for transfers of EOL vehicles out of Delhi/NCR ( I would suggest minimum six months ) and a reasonable compensation for all who had to sell their vehicles in the 15th year since registration after 2021-2022 or whose vehicles got forcefully or voluntarily scrapped fearing no relief in the issues might be coming forth any sooner than now being proved by the changing outlook of the Delhi Government with a new ideology!!

Please keep supporting this call, appeal on all of your socials until we can bring smiles on the faces of all old car owners as well as the governments of the day! There is no need to hold the nation to ransom by squatting on streets, when the power of the pen and the virtual media can serve our objectives just as better ..!

Thank you once again for your priceless continuing support!
