Dear Signers,

Thank you so much for your continuing support for our common cause. It’s been a while since I wrote to you. The Road Transport Ministry has not been able to help the few thousands who're affected by the issues raised in my petition. Their stand on our campaign has been that they had appealed to the Supreme Court in 2019 asking for exemption for certain categories of vehicles.

No one knows what's happening with that appeal, and the Ministry won't accommodate my request for a short meeting where they could just hear out my heartfelt appeal

Some time ago, it was in the news that even the Delhi government was planning to go to court against the ban in Delhi-NCR on 10-year-old diesel and 15-year-old petrol vehicles. But that hasn’t happened too.

I’m hoping the state governments of Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana, whose citizens are affected by this rule, will now all take a lead on this.

I spoke with TheQuint, who produced a wonderful video summarising my views on the subject. It’s really strange as to why senior citizens are being forced to sell off their vehicles without any provision of pollution or fitness checks.

Other citizens have also started petitions about this rule and how it’s harming their pockets. You can look at this petition - Change.org/15yearoldcar - which is addressed to the CMs of Delhi, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.

Let’s keep up the momentum for these citizen-led efforts and continue vocalising our opinions in the comments section.

Also, pls share these petitions on social media. And once again, thank you for your wonderful support.
