RE: ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION CRISIS (Venezuelans Into Trinidad & Tobago)

The Issue

WE THE UNDERSIGNED hereby PETITION the Minister of National Security, The Honourable Stewart Young and by extension the Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, to immediately cease and desist from implementing the announced plan, to register all illegal Venezuelan immigrants and in so doing provide them with identification cards and one year work permits.

We call upon the Government to Immediately stop this plan in order to ensure that proper logistical analysis takes place, to indicate, how it will adverserly or otherwise affect, Peace and Security, Crime, Social Services, Health, Services, Educational Services, the Laws governing Taxation and National Insurance, Labour Legislation and the Labour Market, in Trinidad and Tobago.

We further call upon the Government to immediately stop this plan until such time as there is proper consultation with the relevant stake holders, these being the representatives of the people in whatever organisational they may exist, including but not limited to, Economic, Social, Political, Cultural, Religious and other community organisations.

We believe that this unilateral plan, on the part of the Government to give legitimacy, to the act of illegal entry, is tantamount to a breach of the rule of law in Trindad and Tobago and must be stopped immediately
