I have played every main series Pokémon game. Pokémon Silver was the first video game I ever played. From there, I got the Gen 1 and Gen 3 games. Then, I got a DSi, playing Gen 4 and Gen 5. After I got a 2DS, I moved on to Gen 6, then 7.
I will NOT be buying ANY game from Generation 8.
As many of you know, "Pokémon Sword and Shield" will be coming out this November. But by no means will it be a good Pokémon game, or even a complete one. In an attempt to rush these games out for the Holiday Season, series producer Junichi Masuda has decided to cut OVER ONE HALF of ALL Pokémon out of the game. I'm not talking about making them available in the wild; I'm talking about them NOT EXISTING IN THE GAME'S CODE. As in, you will not be able to transfer Pokémon from previous games IF THEY DO NOT EXIST IN THE GALAR POKéDEX!
As someone who has transferred their Pokémon to the newest games since Generation 4, I, Among many others, am absolutely appalled at this decision.
At first, I was giving them the benefit of the doubt. Maybe they were building everything from scratch. Maybe there was some internal conflict.
Then, the excuses started coming.
- We're remaking every Pokémon model from scratch.
- We're trying to improve the quality of the animations.
- Some Pokémon just aren't suited for the environment of the Galar Region.
- Our development team isn't large enough.
All of these are LIES, created by Masuda in an attempt to cover up obvious laziness.
When he finally responded in a public statement, this is what he said.
Thank you to all of our fans for caring so deeply about Pokémon. Recently, I shared the news that some Pokémon cannot be transferred to Pokémon Swordand Pokémon Shield. I've read all your comments and appreciate your love and passion for Pokémon.
Just like all of you, we are passionate about Pokémon and each and every one of them is very important to us. After so many years of developing the Pokémon video games, this was a very difficult decision for me. I'd like to make one thing clear: even if a specific Pokémon is not available in Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield, that does not mean it will not appear in future games.
The world of Pokémon continues to evolve. The Galar region offers new Pokémon to encounter, Trainers to battle, and adventures to embark on. We are pouring our hearts into these games, and we hope you will look forward to joining us on this new journey.

A weak apology, and a commitment to double down on these actions.
With the announcement of Pokémon Home, a subscription-based storage service, around the same timeframe, one of the real reasons is not hard to figure out. They want to hold your Pokémon hostage in the cloud, forcing you to pay on a yearly basis, on the off chance that one of the next games will allow you to transfer a fraction of your Pokémon to it.
This next part is what finally led me to creating this petition. (Credit to NintendoSoup)
"As we approach the launch of Pokemon Sword and Shield, the Japanese Pokemon community has started slamming Junichi Masuda, the producer for the games, for making a “heartless” tweet that is related to the cutting of Pokemon.
It all started when Twitter user @Hathuurui tweeted to Masuda photos of her Bayleef and Bayleef nails. She showed Masuda her Bayleef nails and told him she’s “looking forward to the launch of Pokemon Sword and Shield with my dear Bayleef”.
Junichi Masuda retweeted her post with the word “thanks!!!"
While it may seem like an innocent reply, what @Hathuurui probably didn’t know was Bayleef and its entire evolutionary family have been cut from Pokemon Sword and Shield, meaning there’s no way to transfer Bayleef into the games. Thus, Japanese fans called Masuda’s response to @Hathuurui “very heartless”, as it could have raised @Hathuurui’s hopes that Bayleef made it into Sword and Shield."
Junichi Masuda straight-up LIED to a fan PERSONALLY.
Because of these events, I, along with the signers, demand that Junichi Masuda either resign or be fired from Game Freak.
