Lutra "Gavin" Enhydris started this petition to Nintendo and

The purpose of this petition is to persuade Nintendo to bring a service to the Switch that allows Switch owners to buy retro or legacy games (N64, GameCube, Wii, Gameboy, Gameboy Advance, DS, Wii, Etc.) Similar to the Virtual Console. Many Old Nintendo games are getting expensive, Especially GameCube games, many are going up words to $100 even common ones like The Mario Party games. Many GameCube games have also never seen a rerelease to this day, like Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, Pokémon Colosseum and XD: Gale of Darkness, F-Zero GX, and Super Smash Bros Melee, many of the games listed like Paper Mario are the aforementioned games going for $100. It’s not just GameCube games either. Pokémon fans who grew up on the GBA and DS don’t have a way to experience the original games they loved as a kid without forking over nearly $100.

Nintendo is also taking down ROM sites and back in 2018 shut down the Wii Shop Channel, getting rid of the Wii VC. The Wii U VC is the only way now to play many of these games but the Wii U also had a low install base and it didn’t even have GameCube games (Despite the Wii U being backward compatible with Wii games, which means that it should be able to run GameCube games with no problem since the Wii is a more powerful GameCube, and Wii games are on the Wii U Virtual Console.) or any of the GBA or DS Pokémon games even though it had GBA and DS games on the Virtual Console.

Nintendo has been slowly drip-feeding us games on NSO and only for NES and SNES games and nothing else. The Only first or second party GameCube game on the Switch was Super Mario Sunshine on 3d All-Stars. But it has been removed from the Eshop and physical copies have been discontinued. 3d All-Stars shows that Nintendo has an emulator for the N64, GameCube, and Wii but they refuse to use it for anything else.

And since this is the fourth year since the Switch has been released and we still have’ t gotten anything past the SNES era, it’s clear that Nintendo isn’t trying to bring these old games to the Switch. However, we can change that with this petition. This petition’s goal is to bring back the Virtual Console or to bring some legacy game service to the Switch that offers N64, Gameboy, GBA, GameCube, and other legacy games to be purchased for around $10-20. If you want to play the games you loved as a kid or want a way to buy them cheaper without having to break the bank, then please, I advise you to sign this petition.

I also advise you to use #BringBackVirtualConsole on Twitter to help spread the message and to show Nintendo that this is unacceptable, and that we want to be able to play the old games we loved on the Switch. Just be respectful and do not be a jerk about it.
