Suspend Hope Solo's endorsements just as you did Ray Rice and Adrian Peterson.

Suspend Hope Solo's endorsements just as you did Ray Rice and Adrian Peterson.

The Issue

If an NFL player today was accused of being the aggressor in a domestic violence incident where he was drunk and was alleged to have punched his niece in the face several times and punched his sister as well after she came to her aid, there would be no question that Nike would suspend that player from further endorsements. This has already happened with Ray Rice and Adrian Peterson. Both were accused of crimes, the same as has happened to Hope Solo. Yet despite no actual convictions for Rice and Peterson, their endorsement deals have been terminated. Peterson plead no contest to a misdemeanor reckless assault and has not been found guilty of child abuse.  Nike subsequently terminated their endorsement deal with him.  When photos showed injuries to Peterson's child and charges were brought Nike immediately suspended their endorsement deal. When Rice was seen in the video hitting his fiance, Nike terminated their contract with him. Hope Solo was charged with a crime and photos showed injuries to both her sister and her nephew.  With all the evidence and charges against Hope Solo, Nike has done nothing to condemn her reported acts and has continued their support of her throughout. By Nike's inaction against Solo and lack of condemnation, they are essentially condoning her actions. To suspend and terminate male sports players' endorsement deals due to actions that were frowned upon but not doing the same for female sports players is pure sexism. Nike condemns men who act badly and are accused of crimes yet does not do the same for women who act badly and are accused of crimes. Nike's stance sends a message that women who act badly and are accused of violence and abuse are not to be punished at all. Only men are. This sends a dangerous message to our children, that women can abuse others and it's OK while men should never do so.  This is inexcusable. End the sexism now!  Suspend Hope Solo's endorsement deal now.  If she pleads to a misdemeanor, end her endorsement just like Peterson.  Anything but a full exoneration should result in a termination of endorsement. Those signing below agree and also will be boycotting all Nike products unless proper action is taken.  Thank you.

Here is a description of what Solo did- an allegedly very violent incident and not the first time according to the victims:

(For anyone, including Nike, comparing Solo to Ray McDonald, it's not valid. McDonald was never charged and most likely won't ever be charged with a crime as evidence and a prior incidence shows his actions most likely was self defense from his girlfriend's aggression. Solo has been charged with a domestic violence crime.)
