We call on Nelson MP and Minister for the Environment, Nick Smith, to withdraw his objections to the introduction of a levy on single-use plastic bags and to convince his National Government colleagues to support the adoption of such a levy nationwide.

We believe, as has been proven in over 30 countries around the world, that a plastic bag levy would help to reduce harm to the environment and that as Nelson's MP and the Minister for the Environment, Nick Smith should support such strategies.
