A salmon farm on Chebogue Point. Think about it. Do we want our pristine waters used to flush the waste from fish farms.

There is one proposed for Chebogue point and the wastewater would be pumped into the water only 300 ft from shore at a rate of 6 cu. meters per second. (About a tandem truckload every 2 seconds).

Is this development what we want to encourage? This is phase one of one farm. Once approved there is no stopping it. We could end up with salmon farms from Clare to Pubnico.

How much of our billion dollar fishing industry are we willing to risk so foreign nationals can build mega farms on our shores?

Do we want to risk the pristine ecosystem we all enjoy for any venture. Once the shores are changed, they are changed forever.

 Boreal Salmon from Chile is planning a 50-60 million dollar project for Chebogue Point. They are planning to start building in September this year and plan to stock it next September. It has been very hush hush to keep opposition to a minimum.

I, for one do not think we should go down that path. Google Salmon Farming in Chile. Not a happy story.

Call your municipal councillor to let them know how you feel.
