Allow chickens to be kept in the city of Niagara Falls , NY
The Issue
Many much larger cities in the country, as well as many other places in WNY allow backyard chickens to be kept & cared for under their written guidelines. Buffalo, Brooklyn, San Francisco, Philadelphia & Chicago to name just a few...
The citizens of Niagara Falls should be allowed the opportunity to become more self sufficient by being allowed to raise a limited number of chickens (possibly between 4&6... they are flock animals after all and need to be around other chickens as part of proper care).
With the uncertainty of the economic effects of coronavirus looming, people should be given the opportunity to help care for themselves through caring for an animal that can provide them with resources. The idea of keeping chickens was once upon a time even promoted by the U.S. Department of agriculture back in 1918. People who might otherwise move here have even decided not to because of this antiquated law.
