We respectfully request that your news station considers the importance of including sign language interpreters in your broadcast. Signed language interpreters provide a form of effective communication to our citizens who are our Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing. Though your station may provide Closed Captioning, not everyone is able to access information using this form of communication.

By cropping out the sign language interpreter from a broadcast prevents effective communication and could significantly impact the safety of members from this community. This link includes language from the United States Department of Justice to reference on effective ways to provide effective communication.

The Independent Living Resource Center (ILRC) is your local Center for Independent Living. Our mission is to empower independence for all people with a disability and create pathways for access. The ILRC has a pool of nationally certified interpreters with Level 2 background clearance through the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA). Will you help us Stop the Crop and keep sign language interpreters in the picture?
