On Wednesday 10th July Newcastle City Council will have its proposed policies on climate change and areas of search for minerals - Dewley Hill - examined by an independent planning inspector.

This is a public meeting and will provide an opportunity to see how the recent 'climate emergency' and plans for a new coal mine in the city will be debated.

Banks Mining will be there fighting their corner so it's important that members of the public are present.

Please note there will not be the opportunity to speak, unless already registered to do so, but a strong public presence will convey the level of opposition to plans for another coal mine.

The meeting will take place in Newcastle University's Old Library Building (NE1 7RU) from 1pm.
