Banks Mining formally submitted its application to mine 800,000 tonnes of coal at Dewley Hill on 28th February 2019.

The documents have not yet been uploaded to Newcastle City Council's website.

This week, a report seeking approval of the submission Development and Allocations Plan (DAP) will be presented to the full council.

The DAP is part of the council's Local Plan, which will guide future development in Newcastle to 2030.

This allocates land at Dewley Hill as an Area of Search for the extraction of coal.

The report will be presented on Wednesday 6th March, at 6pm, in the chambers of Newcastle Civic Centre.

It would be useful to have a presence to show the level of opposition to another coal mine in Newcastle.
