Yesterday we met with the Newcastle Great Park Consortium’s director to discuss proposals for 1,200 houses adjacent to Havannah and Three Hills Nature Reserve. We highlighted that in the Core Strategy the only agreed figure for the number of houses in Cell A was 880. We were advised that negotiations are still ongoing between the Newcastle Great Park’s landscape officer and Newcastle City Council and there is still no agreement regarding the proposed buffer zone, which could put some houses just 30 metres from the reserve. We have been advised there were a lot of comments on the impact of the proposed development on wildlife in and around Havannah in the second round of public consultation, so thank you to everyone who responded to this. These comments will be included in the statement of community involvement, which will be submitted with the planning application, later this month. If you have not yet commented, please do so here: https://4.selectsurvey.net/travelplanservices/TakeSurvey.aspx?PageNumber=1&SurveyID=92MJ3l7&Preview=true# Alternatively, you can email david.abercrombie@newcastlegreatpark.com to express your concerns about the impact of the proposals on wildlife in and around Havannah. We now have over 2,000 signatures on the petition. Thank you for your support.
