The application for Cell A has STILL not been submitted. Could this have anything to do with the fact that the Core Strategy did not allocate this land for 1,200 houses? We know there are no plans to increase the size of the proposed buffer zone around Havannah. Given the ecologically sensitive nature of the site, this could prove highly detrimental to wildlife in and around the reserve. We also know that the area Newcastle Great Park Consortium is proposing for playing fields is an area of strategic open space in the green belt and was not allocated for development. Lighting from the playing fields, along with fencing and access, would have a significant negative impact on wildlife. Our petition has attracted almost 2,000 signatures.
