It is both validation and motivation to continue to push for these really necessary changes to workloads for Midwives nationwide. Keep sharing!!! 14 March 2018 Hon Greg Hunt MP Minister for Health Parliament House CANBERRA ACT 2600 Dear Minister MIDWIVES’ WORKLOAD I have been contacted by a constituent of mine, Kelly Grace, on the issue of midwives and their workloads. I understand that Kelly has already written to you, and my letter is in support of Kelly’s submission to you. She is keeping me in touch with issues relating to midwifery services, and so I would be most grateful to receive a copy of the reply you send to her. I think it is often easy, in the current climate, for society to overlook the very fundamental job which midwives do, and have done for a very long time. Attention is often drawn to the more serious health issues, such as cancer, the more dramatic discoveries and treatments, and whatever the latest health campaign is. Meanwhile in the relative background, midwives have been helping pregnant women deliver their precious babies, our next generation, without the fanfare and recognition, because their services are just part of what we expect as a basic right in our excellent first-world health system. Kelly has made her case very well, so I am not going to reiterate what she has said. Suffice to say that any parents who have had the benefit of a midwife fully appreciate the very high level of care and professionalism they provide. Therefore I would encourage you to give Kelly’s letter your closest consideration, and I look forward to receiving a copy of your response to her.
