Thanks to your support we are making it steadily toward 20, 000 signatures. we have had some media attention, with a 9 news story in Queensland, and an on-air radio interview in Perth. Midwives in Perth are meeting with the Australian Nursing Federation boss Mark Olson this week to discuss a plan to take this further.
Still no response from government, which says we need to get LOUDER.
We sacrifice meal breaks, bathroom breaks, do unpaid overtime and work ourselves to the limit, and still feel we haven't been able to do what we know would be the best for women and babies. Instead of being forced to work like this, and to let less acute or time-sensitive cares slip to the bottom of the list, help us get the time we need to provide comprehensive care to women and babies across Australia.
It's not an issue of workplace, its an issue of circumstance. The circumstances have changed, the risk factors have changed. In addition, research into maternal and neonatal health is continually providing more evidence which informs new policies and practices. These new practices just keep being added to our workload.
The best way to make this happen is for those of you have signed to please share this with friends family and colleagues. Some time in your life, someone you love will need this care, and we desperately want to give it, and give it fully.
