Thank you New York! Over 26,000 people have signed for subway safety barriers.
And, two days ago, we were at only 19,000. A week ago, we were at 1!
Clearly, New Yorkers want to be heard and want subway barriers!
Not gonna lie, ran into so many negative armchair critics, but over 26,000 people have restored my faith that New Yorkers are concerned and will act and want action on subway barriers.
More and more media are covering this important safety issue.(see for example WPIX below).
More and more electeds are focused on this and the MTA's failure to act for decades!
But we need to keep pressure on by talking to elected officials, to our neighbors and friends. Please continue to share the petition!
We cannot let the MTA give excuses for another decade. In the last few years, approximately 5 PEOPLE have lost their lives EACH MONTH! And countless people have been hurt by trains, having fallen on the tracks. When a subway conducted hits a person, there is often trauma, which requires treatment and months off work.
New York, we can get this done with your help. If each one of us spends a few minutes getting someone to sign and/or emailing out elected officials, we will be making great strides towards #safetyforall!
With hope,
( Just an) Ordinary New Yorker
