New York Fashion Week Is Going Fur-Free — Now Tell Paris to Do the Same
The Issue
It’s official: New York Fashion Week will be fur-free starting in 2026.
This landmark move brings NYFW in line with a growing list of global fashion weeks — including London, Copenhagen, Helsinki, and Melbourne — that are rejecting cruelty and embracing compassion on the runway.
Now, it’s Paris Fashion Week’s turn.
Paris is one of the most iconic and influential fashion events in the world. What walks its runways sets trends far beyond the city. But while the global fashion industry is turning away from fur, Paris Fashion Week has yet to commit to banning the use of animal fur in its official events.
The time for half-measures is over. Fur has no place in modern fashion.
Over 100 million animals are killed every year for the fur industry — including mink, foxes, raccoon dogs, and rabbits. These animals often live and die in extreme confinement, suffering painful deaths for the sake of coats, collars, or trim.
Fashion leaders have shown that alternatives are not only available — they’re desirable. Major brands like Gucci, Valentino, and Prada have already committed to going fur-free. Even entire fashion weeks are changing course. Paris risks falling behind if it doesn’t join this movement now.
We call on the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode, which organizes Paris Fashion Week, to:
- Publicly commit to going fur-free by 2026
- Update the official fashion calendar to exclude shows using real fur
- Align Paris Fashion Week with global ethical and sustainability standards.
Fashion is about vision, innovation, and influence — not cruelty.
Join us in calling for a fur-free Paris Fashion Week. Add your name if you believe that glamour should never come at the cost of animal suffering.
