Rename the Street Where the Russian Consulate in NYC is to “GLORY TO UKRAINE ST”

Rename the Street Where the Russian Consulate in NYC is to “GLORY TO UKRAINE ST”
The Issue
The people of New York City are proposing to change the street name of "East 91st Street", between 5th Avenue and Madison Avenue, which is the street where the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in New York is located (the Consulate's current address is 9 East 91st St., New York, NY 10128), to “GLORY TO UKRAINE STREET”. This way, whenever someone tries to send a letter to or otherwise contact the Consulate, the address will read: 9 GLORY TO UKRAINE ST., New York, NY 10128.
In the sixteen days since the war began, the Russian army has killed 79 children in Ukraine and nearly 100 children have been critically injured. The Russian army is killing innocent civilians, executing the mayors of occupied cities and destroying cities and towns all across Ukraine. Every day this war continues, dozens of women are reporting being raped by Russian soldiers and millions of people are being displaced. Hospitals, schools, maternity wards, and many other civilian targets have been bombed and destroyed. These war crimes will not go unpunished, but in the meantime, we have to make every effort to fight this evil, even with symbolic gestures.
We are calling on the NYC Council, Council Member Keith Powers of District 4, and Mayor Eric Adams to expedite this request to have the street name changed. As Ukraine fights for freedom and democracy on behalf of the entire world, as our friends are bombed, displaced, injured, and killed in Ukraine, let’s continue showing them that the world supports Ukraine and denounces Russia’s abhorrent war crimes. Let’s stand together with the people of Ukraine and show them that New York City is with them.
Thank you
