Petition updateHelp Ben the bear and the other animals at the Spruce Haven Zoo in Sault Ste Marie
URGENT - Sault Ste. Marie residents - Bylaw issue coming up on Tuesday!

Zoocheck CanadaToronto, Canada
Feb 18, 2018
This Tuesday (February 20th) Sault Ste Marie City Council will be deciding on changes to its Animal Care and Control By-law that would include prohibiting zoos in the City of Sault Ste. Marie.
Two councillors have put forward a motion to grandfather Spruce Haven Zoo from the by-law. If a grandfather clause is included, it means the zoo is exempt from the bylaw. That means conditions could stay the same for Ben the bear and the other animals for the remainder of their lives.
If you are a resident of the City of Sault Ste Marie or the surrounding region, please send an email to the Mayor and Members of Council AS SOON AS POSSIBLE urging them not to include a grandfather clause in the bylaw. Send your email to the Mayor and Members of Council to the City Clerk at cityclerk@cityssm.on.ca
If you are able, please also attend the Council meeting at Sault Ste Marie City Hall on Tuesday and urge City Council to pass the bylaw with no grandfather clause. Plan to arrive by 5.30 pm.
Thank you.
