New skatepark in Amarillo, Texas needs to be built and named after Brian Deneke.

The Issue

December 12, 1997, Brian Deneke was killed just for being himself. He was skater, loved the punk scene and played in a few local bands. Brian was such a loving and kind person. If some people would have met Brian and hung out with him, they would have had a lifelong friend.
The skatepark was Brian’s idea in the first place, so why not have a new one  built and named after him?
I had started a written petition back in 2007,  to get the skatepark in John Stiff Park renamed but unfortunately it was stolen, due to some of the signatures on there. (BMX riders and some skaters signed it when I was at the 2007 Vans Warped Tour). That was the original plan, and now we have decided to just build an entire new park at Ellwood Park, where Brian used to skate at with his friends, on the ramps they built themselves. We need a skatepark built in the middle of the city for other kids to enjoy instead of having to go to Martin Road park or John Stiff Park.
Brian had so many friends in Amarillo, he taught me tolerance and to love myself. His life has impacted a ton of people, and a movie was even made about him, called Bomb City. Building a new skatepark would be the most awesome thing our town could get. Amarillo has such a diverse population, from all walks of life. Brian loved life, loved his family and friends and was always there when a friend needed him. He also loved handing out sandwiches to the homeless. That’s how Brian was, thinking of others first. He wasn’t some kid causing chaos. He knew how to make people smile. Getting this done would be the most awesome thing and Brian would approve!

Please sign the petition. All I ask is, “No Rude Comments “

Thank you!
